It was not so long ago that the Spanish speaking population became the biggest minority in the United States. Since then, businesses across the country have started to change their main focus in the way the conduct business on a daily basis.
Marco Piagini, owner of Italian-American restaurant “Bello Paese” located in Newark, NJ decided his business, which rests mostly on one-hundred year old recipes from his great grandmother, needed a boost to attract and appeal to the masses. Piagini realized that some of his customers spoke not only English but also Spanish and had the wild idea to add a Spanish menu to the overall experience of his “Beautiful Country”, named by his father in the late seventies to pay tribute to their roots back in Bologna. It turned out that Piagini’s idea wasn’t so out-of-whack after all, his sales have increase constantly over the last few years.
It isn’t hard to acknowledge that we have to adjust to demographics and current times, businesses in Los Angeles operate entirely in Spanish, and it’s estimated that 1 out of every 3 people in the City of Angels speaks Spanish to conduct business.
This has generated a new need for Spanish services that range from translations, to surveys, legal documents, interpretations, etc. that are mostly conducted over the internet. Take Spanish Render (http://www.spanishrender.com) as a great example of professional people filling the need for the ever changing demographics and language requirements. “We have been working with companies such as Coca-Cola, NASA, Carl’s Jr., Nike, Dish Network, and many others” says Luisa Llano-Grey founder of the Southern California based enterprise. “Think about it, when you call your bank, the operator prompts you to choose your language. Big companies understand that in order to sell more, they have to make it easier for Spanish-speaking customers to be approached”. And that is indeed an interesting fact, is very likely that in the near future, fast food chains will start offering menus in Spanish, to accommodate the fast growing Spanish speaking population.
